Shoal draft keel needed

Good question, thats what everone asks.
Currently have my boat in the Barnegat bay, very shallow approx 7 ft in a large area that we sail in, but getting in and out of my harbor is worse yet, approx 5- 6 ft at best at high tide, lots of shoaling and poorly marked channels lead to a lot of stress.
I thought that a shoal draft keel installed on the boat would open up more of the bay for us as well as insureing that we can get in and out on a whim.
