I'm considering purchasing a winter cover for my O'Day 302 from ShipShape Canvas in Duluth.

Anybody have any experience with these folks?

Seem to be responsive in my emails to them. But just wondered if anyone here on the forum has any history with them.

Thanks in advance.

My next cover will come from ShipShape, their covers are all over the marina's on the Great Lakes and I've been coveting one from them for a few years.

I've had my cover from Shipshape for four year now. They make an excellent product. I've also had them recover the cushions, redo the dodger and make a bimini.

The short answer is lousy customer service, after the sale. It took them a year and 2 covers before I had one that fit ok at best. Their attitude the whole time was rude and uncaring, as if I was putting them out because I wanted a cover that fit. And I wasn't just knit-picking, NONE of the stanchion cut-outs or shroud cut-outs were in the correct place. This after being told they come out and measure every boat! After 6 months of getting the run around, they finally show up and measure my boat. Then another 6 months of the run around game until I get another cover.

I could say that about another well known canvas cover purveyor - not one of the two mentioned here. I won't say their name although in my opinion they deserve the bad publicity for the nonexistent customer service. They cover they made me, at premium rates, was insufficient. The frame lacked set screws at several stations, I still believe the station supports were the wrong length and the canvas cover was irregular (Covered past the waterline in some areas but not everywhere). The transom seem never closed. I could go on. I made the company aware of the problems and there was no response. So, get references from people who have actually had their covers made. Online ratings are useless.

You make this sound like it is directed toward Shipshape.
