It can vary
I just had a 28 MkII shipped from Stockton Lake, Missouri to Portland, Oregon. By the way, I purchased this boat based on a want ad I saw on this Web Site. Most charge by the mile and size of the boat but that amount can vary. I got quotes from $4,000 to $6,000. Be careful because there are some tricks to loading and transporting sailboats as opposed to powerboats. Make sure that you get a copy of the trucker's current certificate of insurance. Don't pay until delivery. Upon delivery inspect the boat and all rigging, boom, mast, etc. Have pictures taken before decommissioning, after loading and at the time the boat is unloaded. Be sure that the decommissioning agent knows what he/she is doing and that everybody agrees who is responsilbe for what (i.e., will the agent or the trucker prepare the mast for transportation) It will have to be transported on the trailer, not on the deck, pulpit. It should be protected by lots of bubblewrap or other appropriate material as should the roller furling. Find out if the trailer is airride or spring ride. I've heard that air is better but there seems to be some disagreement. Confirm with the trucker that his exhaust system won't shoot exhaust against the hull for the entire trip. Apparently some exhaust pipes are set up to expel at the ground vrs. above the cab. Apparently new trucks burn very clean and exhaust isn't such a problem. Finally, make sure you get insurance which covers the boat, including transportation. Good luck.
