Dear Catalina Friends, I recently bought 2 Catalina 22' in Miami Fl. And I need to ship them to Chile in south America. I've already got everything set to ship them both in a 40' container, but now I'm wondering if the the 8'beam will fit into the container. Has anybody ever shipped one of this wonderfull boats that can give me a hand on this. I live in Chile and got the boats in a friend house in Miami but I don't want to abuse on his good manners. Thanks in advance, Pablo

I shipped mine

When I left the US about 20 months ago, I shipped my C-22 to UK, and then towed it to Norway where I now live. I used a shipping agent in Norfolk VA - who arranged for it to be shipped on a car/container ship out of Baltimore,MD to Southampton, UK. I decided it would be easier leaving it on its trailer rather than trying to get it in a container. It arrived in UK in good order and cost me about $700 (I think). I also had to make separate agreements with a shipping agent in UK to deal with its arrival. All in all it was a relatively hassle-free successful experience, so you may want to enguire with a local shipping agent to see how they get private cars from Miami to Chile. Let me know if you need more detail. John
