Has anyone used the product Penetrol to bring back the luster to your hull? One of the guys at the marina advised me to us it on my hull because he says it made his previous boat look like new but no one else (including the paint people) seem to know anything about it.

Used it,

Penetrol was reccomended to us by a power boating neighbour who applies it every spring. After much research and a lot soul searching we bit the bullet and applied it to our 1980 C27 hull. It did an excellent job of putting life back into the fading gelcoat. The best part is that it didn't fade or dull through the summer, even several good hull scrubbings didn't seem to affect it too seriously. Initialy it required several coats to elliminate all streaking and application marks (unfortunately we have a steep driveway that increases the diffaculty of smoothly applying anything to the hull from atop a tall step ladder, with the boat resting on it's trailer), just prior to launching next year I'll apply another coat and see how it looks. According to our neighbour, who claims to have used Penetrol for many years, by only applying one coat every spring there is little or no build-up to contend with. For more info, contact any commecrcial paint outlet that deals in Penetrol, they may carry the highly detailed brochure that manufacturer puts out. Best of luck SV SeaRaven
