We have a 37.5 and I need to replace the shift cable. I can't find the part in any of the manuals and need to know what size cable to purchase. Any thoughts?

It is a teleflex/morse shift or transmission cable. I just replaced mine this summer. The most difficult part was removing the binnacle/pedestal to gain access to run the cable. I have to admit, I ended up paying a professional to do it. I assessed the situation, and I didn't have the time.

Anyway, search teleflex morse transmission cable and they should pop up.

Technically Morse/Teleflex no longer exist. They are now SeaStar. The best bet is to remove the cable with or without a fish line the help installing the new cables.

Most of these cables are available off the shelf at a marine shop. If you remove the cable your can take it with you to match the ends. Many of the later models used the C3300 series.

You may also want to ask our hosts at the SBO store if they have the specs for your boat.

I just did mine on my Legend 37, which should be very similar to yours. Mine were 18 and 22 ft in length. Worst part was wrestling with the cables and the bracket inside the pedestal due to the seized compas bolts and seized aluminum radial drive and ss bolts. I would up undoing the pedestal and installing from underneath. Good luck, PM me with any questions.

Does the replacement for the Teleflex mv2 improve the shftting force needed to shift at the helm or is this a hopeless cause due to the length of cable run and all the turn it takes on the 376. Thanks Steve!!

Steve is correct. I did mine last year (broke just as I was docking for year-end haul out - lucky I was going slow?). Took the cables (20' each) into my marine dealer and he set me up with the correct parts to order. Bought the Teflon ones and they are indeed easier to shift. I had the same concern you did thinking their too long and too many turns. Seems they are designed to work no matter how impossible it seems. I also found that a mess anger line help around the binnacle. Very tight but if you remove the chain off the steering gear it gives you more room. Also buy a very long needle nose plier (12 inches at least - auto supply big box store has them) helped a great deal to get down inside the binnacle.

I have a 436 and replaced mine last year. The biggest problem was using the old cables to pull in the new. Some bright fellow in the original construction had wire tied the cables to the wiring harnesses in the initial construction of the boat.
