Sheets for spinnaker

I am planning to set the spinnaker for the first time and therefor I
have some questions. In the instructions that I find on the web they
always run the sheets aft outside the lifelines through a block and
then back to the winch. Since I don't have those blocks and don't
know if there is even a place to fasten them, I wonder if it is
possible
to use the same sheets that I use for the Genoa? What drawbacks would
that give? The other thing I wonder is how to rig the spinnaker pole,
do I need both a lift and a down-haul? I have a lift but I am not
sure
how to arrange a down-haul.
Is there anything special that I should have in mind before I do my
first trials? I really look forward to try this, since the former
owner of my boat said that it was when he sailed with a spinnaker
that
the Vega really performed well.

Hi;
I love to fly the spinnaker- but because I sail single
handed I watch the wind. It's easy to get the spinnaker up,
but when you're alone, it can get hectic when lowering it.
(and in the process you might burn your hands... and one
time I waited to long and put the mast into the water-
don't do that! )
You should use 2 separate sheets; I'm not sure how it will
work with the Genoa blocks- set them as far aft as
possible.
You'll need both the lift and down-haul. Use the lowest
cleet.

We use a couple of turning blocks attatched to the
front of the pushpit for our spinny.
As said it is easy to get it launched, fun and stable
to fly when compared to an out and out racer and gives
good thrust.
I find the mast point launch easy but then I don't
solo at present.
