Greetings, Does anyone know if there is a sheer pin on the Nissan 4 cycle 2001 9.9 hp motor? I haven't been able to find one and it concerns me that I'm not carrying one in case I need one. Doesn't this motor have one? I thought all outboards had them. What if my prop hits a rock, etc.? Thanks. Tim

should be inside the cover

on mine, the spare is clipped in adjacent to the fuel filter.

Probably not.

What you probably have is a shock absorbing rubber insert on your propeller. This insert may act as a clutch allowing the propeller to slow or stop while the engine continues to turn in gear. Shear pins are mostly used in the smallest outboards 3.5HP or less that use plastic propellers.

Thanks. I'll look for it but have had the cover off many times and haven't noticed it.

This might be the case. I've taken it appart and but didn't actually notice a rubber incert but I'm thinking it makes sense. I'll check. Thanks. Tim
