Sharing with my 26’ group - new bed foam.

Nearly everyone has had problems with moisture under the foam. Well, here in the North half it condenses as it passes through the mattress – don’t know about the warmer climates. Needed new foam and wanted it to be thicker. That meant a new cover. So I used sunbrella thinking it would keep the moisture above, and I would just deal with it with extra bedding on the bottom (I did use a netted material from SailRite on the bottom just in case). Well good thing, it turns out that while sunbrella is waterproof, it is not vapor proof. Like goretex is. In other words, we still got moisture underneath. Only advantage I guess would be if the boat leaked, I would not have a wet mattress.

If you want extra comfort, and NO dampness under the mattress, you have to get a Froli sleep system. Spendy, but totally worth it.

Try putting a de-humidifier aboard the boat.

We have purchased a Sunpentown 30 pint unit for our Hunter 36 and it made all the different in the world. We have placed it on the counter in the galley with a hose that drains into the sink. We get several "quarts" of water each week. There is very little moisture inside the boat.

We do not run it when we aboard (a little noisey).

I agree that the Froli system will solve your moisture problem and add comfort. We have it in our boat along with some memory foam over the v-berth cushions. It makes for great and dry comfort.

The clearance for the main bunk on the 260 is only about 30 inches. I suspect the Froli system would reduce that clearance to a degree that a big person like me would no longer fit.

Sometimes you have to consider the OPs boat size when answering

Hey Dave,
With the froli you lose about 2 inches. About the same as a memory foam topper. If I had to choose, I'd go with the froli.

The link showed 4" of foam on top of the 1.5" system. I suppose it all depends on how much mattress you put on top.

Another vote for Frohli. They also have a money back guarantee if I recall for 30 days. Nice folks at Nickel Atlantic, met them at the boat show. If a Frohli is too much what about dry deck? (dri-deck). That is what I replaced. SC
