If you'll share yours... My wife and I are heading for the east coast next week I am looking for a boat ride somewhere south of Boston around Plymouth or Cape Cod area. A few hours would be nice, seeing some whales would be exquisite. My wife and I are traveling to Masechusetts to join our sons in Foxboro for the Drum Corp International Championships. Most of our time will be taken up with the boys and sightseeing. Tuesday or Wednesday 8/9, 8/10 looks to be the most convienient time frame. If you like to show off your part of the world we would welcome your invitation to come along. We'll even bring sandwiches, pay for gas (if theres no wind) or whatever you require (within reason of course). And I'll share mine... I will be willing to take you sailing on Beautiful Lake Pend Orielle in beautiful northern Idaho. Mountain goats come down to the lake to drink, I've seen bear swimming across the lake. Caught a bass fisherman sticking close to the bear, he said he was concerned the bear may need assistance. The lake is up to 1200 ft deep there are 30# plus lake trout caught all the time. Farrugut State Park was the largest Navy base in the world during WWII, all that is left is an Acoustical Reasearch Center on Scenic Bay. If you know a WWII sailor they probably went to boot camp here. The unique town of Bayview is a vacation meca with the majority of its summer cabins on floats. There is nothing quite like it. During the Forth of July there is a boat parade and the best fireworks show on the lake. The 1000 ft plus rock walls on the south shore create and echo that is like nothing you've ever heard. Sandpoint, ID is at the northern and western parts of the lake; a cultural community in the middle of the wilderness. Wilderness artist Steve Lyman lived near here, as well, many naturalist and wilderness artist reside in the area. Hope, ID is at the northern and eastern inlet to the lake. Hope has the second best fireworks show on the lake on the Forth of July and only because they've just started. South of Hope are the Monarch Mountains that come come down to the lake as magnificent as any scenery in the world. All around Hope is the wilderness. If you don't think you'll get to this part of the world soon, don't worry I'll share with anyone who has the desire to see my part of the world. Hmmm a boat share forum... could be fun.

GREAT IDEA

What a great idea... boat share! Sorry, I'm in South Texas, but I love your idea. We went to Seattle last summer for my son's wedding and I really wanted to sail Puget Sound, but didn't have time to look up a charter company. Lake Jackson and Yellowstone lake made me want to buy a trailer-sailer. But this idea of sharing with other boaters... Wow, I wish I'ld thought of that. In addition to sailing, you get to meet other sailors and swap stories. God knows we like to swap stories. I'll keep this idea in mind for my next trip, and make a post before I go.
