Shallow water?

Last summer we bought a 240 and so far we are quite satisfied. In Sweden this type of boat are rare and a boat this size normally needs at least 4 to 5 feet of water. On our first trip we sailed deep in to "Motor boat county", after a very narrow passage where we had to raise the centerboard and the rudder touched the bottom a larger motor boat waited for us as there was no place to meet. On the deck there was a woman handeling the dingy, when we passed she called "how the H-- did you get trough there?" Per Albinsson /AMFI

With a strong wind blowing in from the lake, every attempt we made to leave the dock fought the wind.Being a proud sailor, I didn't want to have to use power on my feeble attempts to leave the dock.Finally , my last ditch effort was to resort to the outboard motor to power us away from the ever approaching shore.Nobody told me sailboat outboards' reverse settings don't work too well.Then I really lost face, .... the motor propellor stuck the bottom enough to shear the shear pin... and lose all power. Ah... humility reigns...as I jumped overboard and walked the boat out to deeper water...pulled it to the trailer and loaded her up....
