I currently sail a Catalina wing keel 270 with a draft of only 3.5 ft. Shallow huh...but alas the entrance to my bayou is only slightly over 2 ft. this time of year. For this reason I keep her in Panama City at a nice deep slip. I'd love some input on other boats with even less keel but big enough for a family of 4 to spend long weekends together and not kill each other by Sunday. I'd like to stay monohull but for obvious reasons, a cat is an option!! Thanks folks and stay warm and safe, Bill

MacGregor 26X

The obvious answer is the MacGregor 26X. The draft with full ballast is about one foot. Check out MacGregor's web site at www.macgregor26.com or the chat list at www.macgregor26x.com.

Hunter 260

The H260 is very close in size to your 27 Catalina. It has 2000 lb water ballast, and a centerboard keel. With keel up, it draws less than 2 ft. Check out the information on this site.
