Hello all I was wondering about typical maintenance to a prop strut on the P36-2. Is it prudent to remove and rebed this? Mine looked tight on the hull while I was changing the cutlass bearing this year, however I was reading an artical on engine alignment that mentioned the strut. All opinions are greatly appreciated. Thanks Greg 1986 P36-2

At the risk of too many cliche`s , If the

machinery ain't broke don't fix it. Look inside, is there any sign of water seeping in around the bolts? Do you have any reason to think that you can make it better than it is at present? If you answer "no" to these questions, then you will have answered your first question.

Well

Actually, I saw water coming from that area of the boat 1 day after we put her in....I was thinking that I might have rattled something when I was changing the cutlass....However, it was actuall my fresh water. I removed the fill hoses and am in the process of replacing. Wife wanted fresh water the other day and I filled the aft tank through the inspection port without remembering the lack of a fill hose. Well after the top inch or so of water drained out of the tank...no more water. Brilliant of me!! So basically, the strut will remain untouched indeed! Thanks Greg
