SHAFT/PROPELLER/BEARINGS

I am planning to replace original shaft with new "Aquamet 19" 1"x48" on my H31'/84.So, if somebody did that, please let me know brand and dimensions for cutless and strout bearings.Also,I need suggestions for 3 blade propeller (I need more control).Thanks,Chach

I just went through someting similar with my '80 Hunter 30. When you replace the shaft and cutlass bearing, be certain that the shaft does not bind in the stern tube after the new cutlass bearing is installed. I had to have my prop strut realigned to get the shaft to turn. The old systems often "wear-in" and any change or replacement requires careful alignment from the prop back the engine. The cutlass bearing size is dependent upon the shaft diameter.I have a 15 hp Yanmar and changed from a 13X13 two blade to a 13X9 three blade Campbell Sailor prop. Better speed and performance but same old prop walk in reverese.
