Shortly I have recognized that my shaft is aproximately 5cm shifted from centerline to portside. As I understand that this could be a design reason I only wonder why it is to portside. All internet sources mention that according to standard it should be shifted to starboard. I have a standard Yanmar 4JH4AE with KM35P gearbox RH. You can also see that the centerline on the hull has a defined angle before the shaft, so it is not a later modification (see picture looking from stern to front). Does anyone can explain this?

I think this is just something about Beneteau’s design manufacturing process. Our 2014 37 has a similar offset but to starboard. I don’t know if it’s meant to allow the shaft to be removed without dropping the rudder, or just some idiosyncrasy of their process.
Thanks for replying. It seems that you have the "standard". But on your boat you can see the centerline between shaft exit and rudder. On my boat there is no centerline visible anymore. I can only see the centerline between shaft and keel. Probably they have also changed the manufacturing process of the hull. Maybe somebody has a similar observation with a shaft shifted to portside but still having a RH propeller (which in theory does not make sense...)
