Frank, I had a Shadetree on my 29.5. I used both the front (shades front hatch) and rear shade (shaded almost entire cockpit and could still use stern rail seats). I liked the fact that I did not need a topping lift. I also felt that it provided a great deal of head room. I found it easy to get around both front and back shade. I always kept it on while boat was docked. I never had a problem with wind. Would use it while motor sailing and relief from sun while swimming. It cannot (based on my experience) be used while sailing. I assume it could be cut down and modified as a poor mans bimini. shadetree quotes 10 min. set-up and take down. I could do this singlehanded, but I rolled it up without taking out poles and laid it on side deck. Taking the poles out each time would be a major hassle (IMO). Contact shadetree for sizing, a little larger shade will provide additional head room. I have since bought a larger boat with a bimini. I will be posting my shadetree for sale on the gear classifieds. any other questions contact me at bcuster@neo.rr.com I would definatley purchase a new shade through Hunter Chandlery

Shadetree, et. al.

Frank, as a Trimmer, that is an Upholsterer, I deal in fabrics every day. We have done awnings, boat covers and biminis, but I have never dealt with Shadetree Fabrics.I just looked at thier site, at least I think it is thier site, and still do not recognize that product. In essence what I am saying is Shadetree has not yet made a 'name' for themselves in The Upholstery Biz. down South yet. Sunbrella and Herculite are products that we have allways used. Herculite allthough very Durable, is on the pricey side With Sunbrella you get a 5yr Warranty from point of sale. I am not exacly sure what you mean by Shelter, that is to say, A Ground Cover? a Gragage? a Bimini? a Full Boat Cover?

Shadetree isn't realy a fabric... it's really a type of structure that's covered with a fabric, although I couldn't say what right off hand. It's based on high tech tent design and sets up over your cockpit or foredeck for shade. Click the cockpit tab in the chandlery or the link below for a look. ph.
