Sewing bags for the sailing gear

Hi All,

Hope your weekend is going well.
My Marine Fabric Seamstress was a little busy and had no time for my side project but since she liked me enough
she gave me some material and the run-down on how to sew Sunbrella using a regular machine and some advice on the hand stitching.

I've done a few things, latest is a bag for the foot pump for the dinghy.

This is definitely no Savile Row work, but form follows function or something
or is it beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
My small kids seem to enjoy it anyway.

My problem is the last part, how to close things without elaborate clasps to break or rust or just hold a project while I
figure out what to order.
For example a Ditty Bag works as it is easy to close using rope.
But that only works for some scenarios.

Is there a ye-olde book or something you can recommend for this.
I'll take a website too, someone I can follow on youtube and throw some patreon money at to keep afloat.

Odd request I know.

How about a draw string or ties? Twist lock fasteners should be pretty easy to install as well. As far as I know, you just need a pair of pliers

I feel like the metal will rust and will bang into stuff.

The ties would be my thing, so looking for some good examples.
You google ties and you get mainly ties for a suit to buy....
Disadvantage of google.

One of the great things about learning my trade from a couple of old Cape Horners, was the marlinspike seamanship final test.
We were required to make a simple, but practical, sail sewing kit bag. I've still got it, full and ready to use.
It has a draw string closure.

Same fastener that's used on most sail covers. They hold up well if you buy something decent
