Star Brite teak cleaner Has anyone here used it to clean their teak? I bought some, cleaned part of my teak (which was in sad shape from PO). After using the cleaner and the brightner, I oiled one of the pieces. It sucked up 4 coats of oil, but the next morning I had white areas that look milky. I think the white is down in the alternate soft portion of the grain of the wood. I don't think I missed a step in the after cleanup called for, just lots of water. I cleaned some more teak last evening, but did not oil. It rained for several hours on the teak last nite and I seem to have white down in the softer layers of wood. Comments please. I guess this is just hard for me to picture even with photos. In raising and lowering the mast on a Hunter 22, the JIB halyard is tied off at one end and the other end is connected to the raising mechanism of your choice? I guess I have trouble envisioning the jib halyard and related rollers and such being able to take that much weight, when the mast is at its lowest level. Someone tell me that I am being a worry wart and that a jib halyard in good condition and its related rollers can hold many times the weight of the mast when it is first coming off of the mast crutch. I have a single axle trailer with surge(?)hydraulic brake system. If you had one worked on did you use a national outfit or local shop. I am looking for someone here in Oklahoma City Metro area to get the brakes working on this old trailer before I start towing to the lake on a regular basis. I have asked three shops and none of them have worked on trailer brakes like this before. Thanks for any feed back.

Apparently you applied teak oil to damp wood

Teak should be completely dry before applying oil, varnish or any other other finish...otherwise, it seals in the moisture. Some products instructions even say they should be applied when the humidity is above about 80%. That milkiness is teak oil mixed with moisture, and it will turn black in a relatively short time as mildew grows in it. So wait until the weather dries out and allows the wood to dry completely before applying any more oil.

Thank You

Thank You Peggy. I cleaned some more of the teak today, but let it dry in the sun for several hours before putting on the oil, I hope that was long enough.

Hey Okie,

Have you tried Dorsey's of Kingfisher? 375-5711. They build trailers so maybe they know something about it. I had them repack my bearings and they seemed a nice, laid-back bunch. Mac
