I purchased a used hunter 22 last fall and am now getting it ready to sail. I have the following questions. 1. Bow Cap cover: The right(starboard) half of the fiberglass cap for on the top of the bow point is damaged and needs to be replaced. Is there anywhere I can buy one or will I have to make a new one? Fortunately, the part of the cap that is under the front shroud is ok, it is the just the right side that is broken. 2. Cheek blocks for Jib: both my cheek blocks for the jib need to be replaced since the plastic pulleys is broken. Can I just replace the pulleys or the whole block? 3. Two sheave deck organizer: The pulleys or sheaves are broken and my question is if I remove the two screws(assuming they will come out) that hold the organizer to the deck, are there nuts behinds it and if so, how do I get get to them(nuts) I don't see any access from the ceiling in the cabin. Or do I cut an access hole in the cabin ceiling? 4. Cam Cleat: One of the cams on the Haliyard deck cam cleat is also broken and I have the same question about removing it and access to the nuts holding it to the deck. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Jim

Lost of Work!

It sounds like you have your work cut out for you. The H22 is a great boat and congradulations on your purchase. Unfortunately, I haven't any experience on removing the cam cleats or the Pulleys from the cabin Roof....but I would suggest replacing the two blocks on the side. I found that the airblocks at West Marine do a great job of this. As far as the damage to the bow, you might consider getting it looked at by a professional. How deep did the damage go (did the boat strike something to damage it). If the cracks go deep I would have someone do it that has experience with fiberglass repair. If the damage is just cosmetic, you might be able to sand it down and fix it with resin. If you have any other questions I have done a lot of other work to my boat and this forum is a great place to get information from other people! Everyone is very helpful here and there are a lot of projects that I did afte consulting with people here. Good Luck!

Found the cheek block/thanks

I found the cheek blocks, thanks. Now all I need is to figure out how to access the nuts for the two sheave deck organizer. There must be a way without cutting the ceiling of the cabin. As for the bow cover, it is just a fiberglass cover that is screwed to the bow. After looking at it again, I think I can make a cover out of fiberglass and fit it. Thanks

No nuts!

Jim: You can just unscrew the machine screws that hold these in place. Most of the deck hardware on the Hunters have backing plates imbedded in the deck. If you can find hardware with the exact same hole spacing you can just replace them. Otherwise you may need to consider drilling and tapping a new hole or two if they do not match up.

Great, Thanks, I was hoping that would be the case. Now to find the exact hole match on the new part.
