setting depth meter offset from waterline CAT 30 1987, 4'4" draft. Trying to set the offest for my new ray marine depth finder. Trasnducer set on the hull about the keel. Does anyone know what the offset should be?
you can get that data fairly accurately by simply measuring from water surface to the coaming level outside and comparing it to the transducer to coaming level measurement inside. The difference will be the offset. A long straight edge, perhaps your expanding boat hook or a length of line, stretched across the cockpit will help mark the coaming level.
