Any information you have on setting up a spinnaker would be appreciated or any good books on the subject. I just bought an '84 O'Day 28 and love it. Our first boat.

The fine art of flying . . .

Danny - You think you're having fun now? Wait until you're flying downwind with the kite up. Nothing like it. That said, I would caution you two things - First, the chute can make a boat difficult to control if you get overpowered, and can cause some nasty broaches. By all means learn to use it, but be judicious until you're sailing skills build. Then, still be judicious. Secondly, flying the spin is an art well worth learning, but difficult to learn from a book. I would try to get some advice from someone you can sail with and you are likely to be more pleased with the result. If this means crewing for someone else while racing, you'll get two new sets of skills. Have fun, Justin - O'day Owners' Web
