I bought a H27 1978 a few years ago. It was set up with only one battery for both the engine and the electrical system. Most boats I encounter have a separate battery for the engine and one for the electrical system. Can anyone provide me with a **simple** set up to convert my 1 battery system to 2 or at leats a system showing how to set up the 2 battery system.

You need to buy the following items...

another battery, a battery box, a battery selector switch and some battery cables. The hook up is simple...once you have mounted everything, hook the negative cable from the new battery either to the negative of the old battery or to the engine ground. Next, connect the positive from both batteries to the 1 & 2 connections on the back of the battery switch. Remember to leave any additional wires connected to the original battery. Finally, take the positive red lead from the starter motor and hook this to the remaining connector on the battery switch. This should complete the wiring. Just remember not to switch the battery selector with the motor running. Good luck.
