I recently bought a 1984 C-22 (first boat ever) and have no idea how to rig the mast, boom, boom vang, etc. I've read archived forums about the mainsail outhaul, but it looks like there should be some type of stop at the end of the boom? What does the outhaul link to? The 1977 manual on catalina22.org has no description of rigging, but the 1987 manual looks like the boom set-up might be different? Any suggestions/ideas? Thanks.

Rigging

If your boat's rigging is original, it should be more like the 1977 model. Even with original rigging, it varies some through the years. My 1985 was similar to your boat when it was original. Did you look to see if there was a C-22 Fleet in your area? There is a fleet listing on the Association Website. Most fleet members would be more than willing to help you rig your boat. You outhaul may look like system 2: http://www.harken.com/rigtips/outhaul.php except the line from block B runs directly to a horn cleat on the boom. That is: you may have eyestrap A and block B with the line run to a horn cleat on the side of the boom...original! Boom Vangs vary widly. I have something like system 3: http://www.harken.com/rigtips/vang.php except mine is a 2 to 1, and I have my control line at the top, or at the boom.
