I have noticed the teh cover on the water pump housing is corroded. Where can I buy parts for the yanmar 1g? I did receive a service manual with my 27 hunter. It seems to be easy enough, even for a novice, to work on basis maintence items. Thanks
Michael, try Torressen (http://www.torresen.com/). They have a number of parts online. But do remember that if you remove/replace the plate on the water pump, you will need to replace the gasket, also.
The 1GM Yanmar water pump is easy to service. You should replace the impeller about 1 time per year. If the water pump ever starts weeping (the seal is going bad) its probably best to replace the pump. You can buy a rebuild kit but a new pump is not that much more. The entire pump is easy to replace. All this stuff is easy to get at any yard that services Yanmars. In addition .. BOATUS can also get the parts for you .... this foes for oil filters, fuel filters (once per year) etc. By the way ... in response to your other question ... only the engine oil drains from the front drain plug (not trans). The trans oil is the same as the engine oil for the 1GM ... check your engine manual.
