Okay, I know "XDY" is one of the Hull Identification Number codes for O'Day. I know the last four digits stand for the month, and year of the boat's construction. My middle 5 digits are "10547", which ones are the Hull Number? I assume the first two or three might be the type/size code, but haven't seen it written down anywhere. Anyone know how to read these things? Thanks

HIN Number

My number is "XDYGxxxM84A". I know the XDY stands for O'Day, the "G" means O'Day 25, the four numbers are my Hull number, M = May and 84 = 1984. I have no idea what "A" Stands for. Hope this helps. EJ

Reading HIN Numbers

I've been looking into the interpretation of HIN's as I just inherited an old Javelin and want to know when it was built. This link tells you how to interpret the HIN for boats before and after August '84. It might be helpful for others, too!

Thanks, Elisabeth!

Okay, I know "XDY" is O'Day, and the last four digits are the month and year of construction, but what interests me is the middle five. After scrubbing the daylights out of the transom, I find the series is "J0547". Now, the question is, was "J05" used for the 22 foot series, in which case, I have Hull 47, or was it encoded some other way. I thought they started building 22's in January of 1973, so they'd have had to have a pretty good production rate to have built mine in January... Sounds like a question for Rudy...
