If a hunter sailboat has the ending digits 94 does that have anything to do with the year it was made? Model year ?Thanks Mike

It means model year 1994.

HUN – The U.S. Coast Guard assigns each boat builder a 3-letter identification code and keeps this in a Manufacturers Identification Code (MIC) Database. F0296 – The 5 digit hull serial numbers are next. This series of numbers and letters, assigned by the manufacturer, must be unique to the boat.
A – This is the month the hull was manufactured. Each of the 12 months is represented by a letter starting with A. In our example, "A" means this boat was manufactured in January. "L" would be a boat made in December.
3 – Year of certification or manufacture.
03 – Designates the model year. In this case the boat is from the Hunters 2003 model year.

I am looking at a hunter that was advertised and a 1993 but the number I copied off of the title for insurance is . H394/ the last four digits , .I did not compare it to the actual number stamped into the boat it self .

Sounds about right to me! Hull laided up in August of 1993 and used to build a 1994 vessel. I would look at the title for the vessel for confirmation.
Just look at the auto industry. A vehicle purchased today was designed 2-3 years ago and built last year. That's how you can purchase the next year's model in the fall.

I'm familiar with Highlanders and Lasers, and they all have a hull number that appears on the sail. On the Lasers, it's sorted out of a series of letters and numbers like the Hunter example. On the Highlanders, the hull number is drilled into the floor of the boat below the tiller... as well as on the hull.. but I've never looked at the hull ( standard ) location cause it was so easy to see it where the skipper stands (c:

Correct for August of 1993 as H stands for the eight letter for the month of August in 1993 for the model year of 1994 beginning as of August 1, 1993 for the model year 1994.
