In commissioning my boat after the repairs from the fire I noticed septage odors in the cabinet under the sink in the head where all the hoses congragate from the head into the holding tank and to the through hull. I also noticed that none of the hoses have double clamps. That I will take care of next weekend. There was a very small amount left in the holding tank that probabily has been there for the past two years. I could expect that it is pretty odorous. Is it generally expected to have some odors there? I will use a product called Ecco Care which is designed to absorb the hydrogen sulfide odors that exist in waste water treatment plants. My desire is to eliminate the cause of the odor. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

My guess is...

The hoses under the sink have permeated with sewage odor and prob'ly need to be replaced. There are several articles in the reference library in the Head Mistress forum that will explain the sources of odors and how to eliminate them, and how to test hoses to determine whether or not they've permeated. After you've read them, I'll be glad to help you with specifics.
