I read several good post regarding mixing elbow. I have a yanmar 2gm20f and i would like to inspect its elbow however once I remove the two clamps it seems the exhaust hose is frozen to the elbow. None of the posts here mention any trouble breaking the exhaust hose free. Is there a method to loosening the exhaust hose? PB Blaster, heat or brute force? I'd rather not destroy the hose since it look fairly solid and is wire reinforced.

Thanks!

I run a screw driver between the hose and elbow to break it free. After, I coat the elbow with anti-seize compound before installing the hose. Make sure hose clamps are adequately tight.

There are tools for loosening hoses. Look like an ice pick with a 90 bend near the end. Try NAPA, Auto Zone or whoever you have for automotive tools

I wasn't planning on removing the elbow but that does seem to allow you to get a twist on the connection which would probably be a good thing. I will also see what that tool is about at the auto shop that Bill mentioned.

Thanks for your clues...I'm off to cut up my knuckles!

Try a hair dryer to warm up the rubber. After its warm, use a large screw driver to work the hose off.
