I'm in the market as were . Colonial Beach
Does anyone have a suggestion for a method of leading the main halyard back to one of the primary winches instead of leading it back to the winch on the cabin top? I have sent someone up my mast using the cabin top winch and that is a pain.

My boat is a 1990 Catalina 30 MK II and the halyards are lead aft.

Anyone have any suggestions I would really appreciate it!

Sure, just lead the halyard to the jib sheet

fairlead block and then back to the main cockpit winch. Need to be careful about fairleads going to the jib sheet block, 'cuz it's either grating on the fiberglass or on the handrail. We also use a mountaineer's ascender so that the load is not on the winch, the "climber" hauls up, then you can tail the winch not under load.

WHEN I HAVE DONE IT

I TOOK THE HALYARD TO THE CABIN TOP WINCH, PUT 1 WRAP ON IT AND THEN LEAD IT BACK TO THE SHEET WINCH. NOT REAL EASY BUT THE BEST I HAVE COME UP WITH.
GOOD LUCK
