Worked on the engine this week. New fluids, new hoses, lots of love. Turned the key and Voila. She started right away. As ED sudgested, kept filling the water bucket and soon enough we had water going through and she quieted down. However water kept leaking out of the rear of the manifold. After additional investigation, found the leak but could not get to it. I decided to remove the heat exchanger as the leak was at the rear. I also wanted to trim 2 bolts on the manifold that poked on the exchanger. After cleaning the crud off the manifold, I found the obviews reason why it was leaking. Cracked clean out port. That was a relief.
Good time to do a cleaning. Used the All American Multy Tool (wire coat hanger)
to do that. Fitted the interior rods perfectly. There was a lot of crud in there. Thought of taking it to a radiator shop and let them boil it in the vat, but I feel I got it fairly clean.
Found Sen-Dure company in Fort Lauderdale and parts are on the way. 2" cap, new gasket and bolt kit. Under $20.00
Now on to the packing gland.
