I was considering doing the same thing but the admiral would absolutely not allow me to spend the money. Tried to explain how it would ease the admirals duties but she murmured something about keelhauling.

We have self tailing winches on our 35.5 and for single handed sailing they an absolute must. I don't know about these self tailing WENCHES but they sound very very interesting! Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Dear All, Thanks for your responses. Actually it helped my day. My 'wench' does tail for me now but it would be easier as sometime she is busy driving the boat when I raise the main or the center board. I like my wench and will keep her. You have to find your own. ct
