Anyone know whether .020 or .041 is right size for seizing the shrouds to the spreaders of a C270? Haven't done this before and can't find it in Brion Toss's book so any other guidance also appreciated. Plan to use existing seizing as a guide.

West Marine Monel

Not sure of the gauge but I used West Marine's Monel wire for the spreaders on my C30. One thing I learned was that I initially wired them too tight with the mast down. This caused the wire to break when we stepped the mast and led to a potential disaster. I then got the opportunity to try out my climbing rig to go up the mast and redo the job. Since then I've examined some of the other C30s at the marina and found a couple have small eye strap screwed onto the end of the spreaders instead of wire. This allows the shroud to move up and down but it won't come out of the groove. Jim
