I have a drawing that was a "boatwarming" gift given by my daughter from when we christened our last boat. This drawing has the name of our old boat on it. I am considering hanging it on our new boat, which has a new name.

Do you think Neptune will take issue with this? The old boat was renamed by the current owner via proper ceremony and our new boat has been renamed in the same manner.

Any advice on this matter?

You're honoring the history of your prior boat by hanging the drawing. Neptune appreciates stuff like that.

As Mike T says it is tradition to honor prior vessels with pictures or half hulls, or models.

Well that's good to hear. Maybe I will have some kind of rum offering anyway. You can never be too safe! :)

There are very specific rules involved in renaming a boat that involve lots of offerings of Champagne to the 4 gods of the winds (north, south, east, and west) and to Poseidon.

So you renamed properly and I think that God's would like it very much if you honored the memory of the old boat with a small ceremony too. I have heard that Poseidon and the Gods of the winds like Wine, Beer, & Champagne that is offered to them.
