Hi everyone!
I've been seeking information on the Hunter 20 sailboats. Can anyone help? Beyond the 13 reviews I found on Hunter 20s in this site, and some other info, I've been looking for reviews, whatever I can find.
My wife and I have been looking for a trailer sailor - we are new sailors - and we were told of a '83-'84 model in our area. The details we have on it are secondhand.
This boat is supposed to have a main and 100% jib, new bottom job, and 7.5hp outboard. It is currently in a berth but a trailer comes with it.
Thank you all in advance! :)

I have a question

...and a comment.
Why have you singled out the Hunter 20 as your choice? It appears from the lack of comments that not many folks are sailing this boat yet there are 39 registered owners in the data base.

You may want to contact some of these owners via email. Just my $.02

I have a response

Why the Hunter 20?
1. One is available in my area, and I sought information from the forum.
2. We are new to sailing and do not seek anything larger than my Ranger pickup can tow. We are seeking a trailer sailor that will likely be kept at or near home rather in a berth.
3. There are handful of lakes suitable for sailing with an hour (or slightly more) of our home in central Arkansas, thus, making trailer sailing more attractive while helping keep down expenses.
4. I have tried other boats and not been wholly satisfied.
5. My searches for information on Hunter 20 have turned up little. Finally, I've found, from other forums, that in addition to contacting owners, sometimes people will stumble upon on-line sources and then offer information to help.
I appreciate your suggestion. Thank you.

Hunter 20

The boat was built by Hunter as a complete boat or in a kit form. If it was a kit put together by an inexperienced person, you may want to look at it much closer. The boat has been out of production since about 1984. This would make the last boat built 24 years ago.

When looking at a boat this old and you are new, best advice is to pay for a survey. There is too much that could be wrong and you would not want a bad taste for buying a first boat with too many problems if any.
