psh, seaworthy oday 28? i have a cruising buddy that has ran into countless oday 28's in the islands, buddy boated with one that was a full time liveaboard with two adults and a small child that spent winters in the turks and caicos/south end of central america. they're very tough and have a wonderfull ride in a seaway, the 27 hunter isnt quite as nice but is easier to power up when things get light, if you end up willing to travel soon i have a 27 tall rig for sale that i will make you a deal on if you come take it away, no diesel but for this boat thats optimal, its lighter and it had a renault that was a total piece if you get my meaning.
My number one sailing partner has an Oday 28 that we sail the living DOG CRAP out of. The chai plates spook me a little bit, it's certainly not what I call a heavy duty sailor, but it seems to hold up to the abuse. If he's not washing the windows in it, he's not very happy. Tougher than I would think. And there's three of them in my Marina.
For what it's worth, even by his own admission it still doesn't sail like my Ericson though..
