I currently have a cleat mounted on the tiller that is used to secure the rudder downhaul line as well as the line used to raise the rudder out of the water. Has anyone used another method to secure these two lines?

I just ordered a complete rudder for my 22' Venture from Idasailor and they have pad eyes and clamcleats for both raising the rudder and pulling it down. Works great. Novelman

Cam cleats?

What was the brand and model of the cam cleats that Ida Sailor supplied to you?

Here's what I use, and like very much

I put a small turning block directly under the cam cleat to keep it straight, and it works very well. It's shallow here, and the occasional rock or sand will simply flip the cleat and let the rudder kick up. The greatest addition since the Idasailor rudder. Let me know if you want me to send pictures and I'll get some tomorrow.
