Securing cap shroud to spreader?

Hi Guys. Looking at my Vega, it looks as if the cap shroud is prevented from falling out of the groove on the end of the spreader if the rig becomes loose by nothing more then a "T" shaped plastic boot. Is this the normal way for a Vega or should wire seizing be used also? Cheers - Jeff.

There should be a strip of stainless steel around the shroud, fastened with a bolt through the spreader. I know it only too well as it made fitting new plastic boots a pain earlier in the year.

Thanks for the info Alsidair. The strips appear to have been long gone from
the end in that case. You've confirmed, however, that something other then
the boot is needed. I've already thrown the stick back up so I'll have to
send the wife up to to some wire instead. Cheers - Jeff.

Hello all,
I had the strip come off this summer and the cap shroud become unhooked from the groove. Had to get up the mast and re-secure temporarily. I guess I'll get someone to fabricate a new strip
when the mast comes down for winter.
