Does anyone have a picture or description for how their batteries are held down in their H26?. I see remnants of double sided tape but that wont cut it. Can I drill into the platforms that the batteries sit on? I also get worried when drilling that close to the hull. Thank you for your help.

It's been a few years but as I remember there were a pair of metal straps screwed into the platform. The web strap passed under the battery box and through the straps. The buckle was made up on top of the box . I upgraded to a group 27 so I had to buy a bigger box.

Plywood

My battery sits on a piece of plywood that has 1/2 x 1" pieces of wood screwed up through the plywood on port and starboard sides. A standard battery strap goes under the plywood and around the battery.

I had two batteries on my H260 on port and starboard .they had little straps that broke and allowed them to move around.
I re placed them and got battery boxes for them. Mounted both on the port side and use bungee straps attached to eye bolts to hold them down.
Much cleaner install and the boat no longer has a permanent list to starboard due to weight of engine and battery on same side,

On the 260, an extra plate was installed on the port side just behind the rear berth wall for placement of a holding tank in the event someone chose the marine head option with the new boat purchase coming from Hunter.

You have room for 2 group 27 or 29 batteries on the port side as well as 2 group24 batteries on the starboard side if you mount them side by side. A3/4 inch piece of aluminium angle works well as a battery box retainer as well as the hold down for the securing strap. On the port side a L shaped extention needs to be added, a 13x18 platform needs to be added to the starboard side. A support between hull and platform or extention on the rear inside corner prevents sag. Now you will have ample power for a week of remote living if you load up with batteries.

My 260 carries two batteries; both are in boxes and secured by straps. One battery sits back behind the berth wall on starboard and the second on an installed plate on the port site, in the locker directly in front of the bathroom wall. The straps for each battery are underneath pulled through two flat u-shaped profiles, screwed to the plywood plates, where the batteries stay on. The downholp profiles look like in my photo but I used flatter ones, not with such high arch and no extra plastic.
