As sailors we are walking encyclopedias of everything you might want to know about sailing....Its part of the sport. For the first month I concentrated so hard on making the boat go...I forgot to learn how to make it stop! We tweak and trim until ther is nothing left to tweak and trim. During all this detail-oriented drama, we sometimes forget the simple things. Please use good dock lines and learn to proper way to secure them! My C-22 was near the end of a 10 month restoration when my slip neighbor's stern line gave way during a recent storm. It surely could happen to anyone if your dock isn't very stable during heavy weather and you line are old. Thanks to my other nieghbors for separating the boats during the storm! The damage caused by this is unbelievable! Comments?
