I want to put a second anchor on our 29.5. I have a question about just how to cleat it. There is one cleat in the rope locker now and I want to put a second on the port side in the locker. Does anyone know if the port side is reinforced enough to do this and just what should I use to attach the cleat to the hull? Russ Garecht Her Diamond Ring

Multi choice

Russ: Our 31' does not have a cleat in the anchor locker. There is a loop that we tie the bitter end of the anchor line to. We then cleat the line off on the box cleats (there is one on port and one on starboard). Don't know how the 29.5 is set up but it seems that the bow cleats are your answer here. The only real question is securing the bitter end.

Shouldn't be a problem

My 29.5, 1995 version, has both port & starboard cleats in the anchor locker. I haven't looked, but would guess that a backing plate or large washers would be necessary. You could probably cut out a portion of the solid headliner to install an inspection port to give access to the area to mount the cleat.
