I have a 2010 (built in '09) Hunter 50 CC with a water leak coming from inside my Seaward F-1150 Water Heater. Can anyone offer suggestions as to how best to go about investigating and repairing this leak - as the heater is in a very difficult place to remove. It is located half under the galley sink floor and half under the starboard settee laz floor. Assuming I have some kind of a core leak, I was hoping that I could "easily" remove the heater cover to investigate, but that seems unlikely.

It is doubtful that the tank is leaking. These units "normally" last for many years. I would guess that it is either your pop-off (pressure release) or a hose.

I have no idea how to access your heater, but good luck.

I agree, Steve.. could be a leak but unlikely. A connection fitting, or the tempering valve or as you say, the pop off pressure/temperature valve..
Passagemaker, when you turn the heater on with 110V power, sometimes ya have to bleed a little water from the hot side as it gets hot to keep the water expansion from popping the safety.

My tank sprung a leak on the bottom. Found it was mounted flat to a laminated shelf. No ventilation around tank. It was also mounted so that some of the leaking water would run under engine into oil pan. The rest of the leaking water damaged the cabin sole laminated plywood subfloor and part of the teak and holly floor panels in my aft cabin. Pull the whole thing out and do a complete inspection.
