I am trying to interface my Autohelm Autopilot with my Garmin GPS and my laptop computer running Visual Navigation Suite. My problem is that the gps talks to the autopilot and the computer but the computer will not download to the autopilot directly i have to download to the gps to load a route in the autopilot. I have a raytheon interface box in the system I keep getting conflicting advise from different sources and am running out of patience. Is there a way to tell with a meter or something if the interface is sending information to the seatalk system. and recieving information from the sysem as well?? HELP.

Greg; What kind of autopilot do you have? I believe that the GPS has to tell the AP what course to steer, and when to change course at a way point. I don't know of an autopilot that stores the way point information. Mike

What I'm trying to do is get the computer to tell the autopilot what course follow. as of now the computer and the autopilot do not share information.

Greg; I am not completely up on the latest computer navigation programs capability's, but I'm pretty sure that the autopilot will only receive information via NMEA input, unless the GPS is Seatalk compatable, and will not store a 'route' of way points. It will only steer to information from the navigation receiver. I'm not sure of what you are trying to get the AP/computer to do. Mike
