Seat backs on h23...

I was wondering if anybody has done anything to the seat backs on the h23 to make them more comfortable and not scratch the woodwork? They seem set in to far and I was looking at ways to bring them out a little bit so you don't hit your head or have to lean forward. I just finished the woodwork where they attach and wanted to do something before the season starts. Thanks, Rob Morton

h23 seatbacks

Rob, you're right, the seat backs in the h23 are about purely cosmetic unless you're 5' tall. like you, i considered how to move them out some but instead i just took them out altogether. (really opens-up the cabin). a trick i learned is if you take the 2 small inserts that cover the portapot and v berth area and use them as seat backs , you can set them either wedged back by the starbord coffen berth area or leaned against the galley and have 2 big recliners. guess this doesn't truly answer how to move the backrests out but for now this is the route i have taken. also, i got 2 of the "stadium/camp" type soft folding seats for when i really needed a backrest below, or more importantly, in the cockpit due to the low comings. the jury is still out here as i got them late last season and haven't used them much yet. just another option....william

Queen birth

OK, they are lame. They work for kids but an adult can't lean back on them and be comfortable but I wouldn't just pull them out. The salon is designed to make a queen birth by standing the floorboards on edge between the slides and packing the hole with the back rests. Now that does work pretty well, we have used them several times.

Thanks,

for your input. We also use the berth in the cabin but I was hoping to make lounging in there more comfortable. I'll have to see what I can come up with. Thanks again, Rob Morton
