season beginning, water pump shuts down, no flow

Hi, I have a Shannon 28 (1982). I'm fitting out post the winter. The water system was winterized. After filling water tank and opening valves, I turned on pump and it shuts down after about 10 cyles. No fluid is pumping. There doesn't seem to be pressure in the system. I have no manual for the pump. Should it be primed somehow? This was not necessary last season. Will the pump auto-shut off if now flow? Pictures attached.

Thanks

Jim

Could be a couple of things.. but it sounds like the pressure switch shutting it off .. first, pull the outlet hose and turn the pump power on. Make sure the valves from the tanks are "ON" and you can get water to the pump.. The pump should puff a little air then a bunch of water .. If no water and no puffing, the discharge valve in the pump may be stuck closed.. Pull the valve and clean it and free it up.. If you have water squirting out, something is blocking the water flow from the pump before the water gets to the "house" system. pull the hoses and see what you can find.. a valve gate or ball may be out of position with handle showing open and valve still closed. Open all the faucets and be very careful to not turn on the water heater electrics until after you have established water flow and bled all the air from the heater
Another possible.. the pressure switch is bad and it is shutting off the pump as the switch heats from the current it is carrying.. It could be a bad connection between the panel and the pump, but the switch is the usual suspect. Happy Hunting !

Disconnect the input side of the water pump and check to see if you have water flow. If you don't, you have something clogging the hose or a valve is stuck closed. If you do, the problem may be the pump which might need to be rebuilt. They make rebuild kits that are easy to install. To test, disconnect the outlet side of the pump after reconnecting the input. Turn pump on. If no water, you have your problem. If it works, your problem lies between the pump and the faucets. Good luck!

check and see if one of the hose fittings is cracked that style of pump is know for having cracked fittings on the hoses where they go to the pump

Thanks Herrick18911, I'm thinking the problem is between the pump and faucets. How does one trouble shoot the accumulator. It's a discontinued Jabsco ITT Model 12573-2000. It's really inaccessable, hiding behind the bowl of the sink.

Is that the accumulator tank we see in photo #3? I would disconnect hose on exit / discharge side of tank and turn water on to see if you get flow. If not then it's the tank. If yes, your issue is downstream. It helps to know how your system is plumbed. You are going to need to systematically check all fittings between the pump and the faucet for blockage. Unless something broke off in the pump or accumulator, I don't see how that can occur???

One question; do you have a strainer in the system? Is that clean?

Hi, Filter is clean. I replaced the accumulator which restored the water pressure. Now water continues to leak from every orifice (faucet) on the boat, even after replacing the washers, springs, O-rings one of the Delta faucets (galley sink). Now it seems like the pressure is too high. Do I release air from the bladder of the Jabsco accumulator tank?
