I wiill be sealing where my chainplates go through the deck on my O'Day 23, as well as a through hull for my knotmeter. Would 3M 5200 work best or shoud I use 3M 4200?

Thanks :)

I've used the 3-M Adhesive sealant 4000 UV and I've use the 3-M 4200. I prefer this brand caulking to the Boat Life Boat Caulk. If the knot meter is metal, you can use it, but plastics require a different type of caulking like Dow Corning 795.

I have used both. The rule of thumb that I use now is that if I might want to take it off some time in the future use 4200, If not, use 5200.
