Experience only on someone else's boat. They seem to work OK. They are a bit fiddly and seem to get clogged more easily than I would have liked. But I've only had a small amount of exposure to them so take this with a grain of salt...

I assume you read the online reviews?
Yes, but TBH I trust honest feedback from the irascible and opinionated Sailboatowners.com community more than online reviews which are many times puff pieces and along the line the box came in and it looked nice. I am more interested in the unit that has 4 leads as I have 3 separate bilges that always have some water in them.

Put a vacuum and damp sponge in your bilge to get rid of water and things growing in damp environments. Kind of ironic

On my boat the only thing that was putting water in my bilge was the condinsate from my AC units. I installed mermaid system to syphon it out with the waste water from the AC units and the problem was solved. I now have a very dry bilge.
