Gooday Mate
Hi, Mike here from the state of confusion. I have some info for you on shipping your Mac 26 X. The first thing you must decide is how you want to ship by vessel. Inside a container, on a flat rack (flat bed), dry box or refer.Dry box (container)fourty footer, actual exterior size is 39 feet 5 inches, width 7 foot 8 inches and height of 7 foot 8 inches with an <interior width of 7 Foot 8 inches , heigth of 7 foot 5 inches> ( this is the interior size of the box due to the steel corragated construction. This container gives protection from the elements but gets rather hot if stowed ubove deck in the sun. Below deck would be cooler but might be exempt from the hold due to fuel vapors from the Mac 26x. You should check with the steam ship line (carrier). The FlatRack is like the bed of a flat bed cargo over the road truck without wheels. The Mac would be placed on the flat rack, lashed down and could be covered with a tarp ect. It could also be stowed on deck, below deck or stacked above decks on top of other containers. There is no need for a refrig container as nothing will spoil. Sometimes shippers will use an empty refer in the place of a dry box. No advantage or disadvantage for you. The containers can roll of or be lifted off and placed on a chasis for delivery. You might also be able to keep your Mac on a trailer inside a container and when it arrives back up, hook up and drive the Mac out of the container and travel on.The shipping ,price of container varries and usuall is based on weight and area it takes up on the ship. To prepair be sure fulls are emptied out, batteries are disconnected and all documents/ ownership papers are in order. You might want to do business with a freight forworder/broker who deals in shipping boats and yachts. The outboard can stay on the boat connected and secured, taken off and placed on the cocpit or made ready for shipping and stored inside the container with the boat...remember no fuel in the engine. You can contact directly the shipping agent who handles the line (vessel company name)they should be able to give you as much advice that you need. Good luck in shippine and in the US we speak Aussi also... Fosters is Aussi for beer! Goodday MateFish
