Hi There, I have a Sea Era head w/ sea water pump that goes to a lectrasan system through a Y valve by passing my inboard holding tank. The boat took on sea water that went over the control panel in the bilge and fried the lectra san unit. I thought for a quick fix, untill I replaced the entire unit, that I could simply install a momentary switch to the head and switch the Y valve in order to pump to the holding tank. I tested this theory by jumping the seleniod to the head motor. The motor would run and pump water breifly before kicking the breaker... OK my thoughts were that the high water not only cooked the control panel but must have caused the head motor to run continuously and burn it out as well. So I replaced the motor and still have the same problem. I hate to think I burned up a new motor, but must have because it does not run now at all. I tested the original motor on a seperate circuit and it preformed the same way, running briefly then popping the breaker. FYI the batteries are fully charged... I have purchase another head motor included with in a raritan conversion kit, ( thinking maybe I got the seals wrong on the install ) the third motor now and before swapping it out, I thought I might ask for your thoughts or suggestions. Hate to burn up a another one. Thanks Peggie appreciate your help in advance....

You need to talk to Raritan about this one...

And you only want to talk to ONE person: Vic Willman, who's their tech services manager and has been there more than 35 years. You have an electrical issue, and he's the one to solve it...so give him a call in the morning--

800-352-5630 x 6.

Meanwhile, I'm gonna email a link to this thread to him now, so he'll have a head start on what you're gonna need.

If you haven't been able to call Raritan this week..

Got this email from Vic Willman today:

We had a helluva storm Sunday afternoon which tore the heck out of parts of Millville. Power at the plant was off from Sunday until this morning. Bret rented a huge diesel generator, but they weren't able to get it working properly (I'm told). We have three-phase electricity in the plant, and apparently all 3 of the phases weren't operational. So we wound up being closed on Monday and Tuesday, but are open today.
