Peggy, After our conversation a while back about the Wilcox-Crittenden head on our C400, we purchased a Sea Era II ( the larger household size) and I installed it. We love the toilet and since it is the pressurized fresh water model, no more smells. When I installed it, I T'd the fresh water from the sink cold line, and added a shutoff valve before the solenoid that opens when you flush. My question: to save water during sailing and possible spillage when well heeled over, I close the shutoff valve and flush the mellowed yellow to keep the bowl dry as possible and upon either the brown flush it down and/or anchored/docked, open the shutoff to allow fresh water to flush the bowl. Am I setting myself up for problems with e.coli by doing this? Should I always flush with fresh water or can I keep using the method I discribed? Thanks once again for your recommendation on the SEII. Gary

It won't hurt anything...

As long as you don't flush "dry" for an extended period. A short flush of urine only shouldn't expose you to e-coli, either...though it can make the bowl a bit smelly if you don't rinse it after a few uses.

Thanks Peggy

That's what I thoght, but just wanted to run it by you to be sure. Thanks once again. And BTW, The SeaEra II is a wonderful head and really doesn't cost that much from WM when you show them the online price. It has made life so much better on the boat, Thanks for the recommendation. Gary
