I just bought my first Catalina 22, a '75, and she's a peach. I'm a nubee to this, so I'm sorry if this is a dumb question. Where are the thru hull outlets that lead from the scuppers in the cockpit? I checked on my boat after a night of torrential rain, and it was bone dry! How the hell did the water get out?

in the keel trunk

the drain is in the keel trunk at the stern of the keel. When you have the boat out of the water if you spray water in the cockpit you will see it drip or run down the keel when it is raised and trailered. You will want to check your valve for this drain as you do not want it to fail. you will the take on water. Another thing to watch is that the pipe that the valve is on is only glassed in place and may spin out or break the bond should you try to tighten it with out holding is securely. Good Luck. Herb, about the Valve...

Thanks, now get it. Could you please explain what you mean by "check your valve for this drain as you do not want it to fail." How do I check it, and how could it fail?
